General Information

Emergency First Aid and CPR training is a comprehensive one-day course designed to provide you with the vital skills needed to respond effectively during emergencies at home or in the workplace.

This training fulfills the first aid requirements established by the applicable Federal or Provincial workplace safety authority. The course content also aligns with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standard Z1210 for Basic First Aid training and incorporates the most current first aid and CPR guidelines. Prerequisites

All individuals of all abilities are welcome to attend. No previous experience or certification is required.


Audience

Open to all individuals of all abilities. Course is designed to provide basic lay-rescuer training for work, community, and home emergencies.

Timeline

Average course length is 8 hours, but may go longer in order to confirm knowledge and skills.


Completion Criteria

Candidates will be required to demonstrate all required skills and complete a multiple choice exam in order to be granted a certification.


Certification

Upon successful completion of this fun and interactive course students will complete a written multiple choice exam. Candidates will then receive a Red Cross Emergency First Aid certificate. The certificate is valid for 3 years.


Recertification

Due to BC workplace regulations, students who with to re-certify in Emergency First Aid will be required to retake the full program every 3 years.

If you return to Be Prepared First Aid Vancouver Island for your recertification, we will offer you a discount. Students will be required to register and complete the course prior to their certificate expiration in order to qualify. Please note your expiration date and return before this.

Students will be asked to present their previous certification on the day of class. Should a student have an expired certification, or be unable to present the previous certificate, they will be asked to pay for a full program in order to proceed.
