Did you know? According to regulation, all children under care must be cared for by an individual with first aid training.
Our comprehensive one-day (14-hour minimum) course is designed to provide caregivers with the essential skills and knowledge needed to help prevent injuries in infants and children.
Participants will learn vital first aid techniques, including CPR, AED operation, choking response, emergency care for circulation issues, wound management, and more. This course also fulfills provincial and territorial requirements for early childhood educators and daycare professionals.

* Note: If adult level CPR and other adult skills are required, please speak with your instructor at the start of class for an upgrade to CPR-C
Completion Criteria
Candidates will be required to demonstrate all required skills and complete a multiple choice exam in order to be granted a certification.
Certification
Upon successful completion of this fun and interactive course students will complete a written multiple choice exam. Candidates will then receive a Red Cross Emergency Childcare First Aid certificate. The certificate is valid for 3 years.
Recertification
Shortly before your certification expires, students are welcome to return to Be Prepared First Aid Vancouver Island and take their course with us. This would be a minimum 6 hour course focused on refreshing skills and learning about updates and changes since the students last course.
Above the benefits of a shorter program, students who re-certify with us will receive a discount for returning to Be Prepared First Aid Vancouver Island.
All recertification students are required to register and attend the course before their ticket expires, and to present their previous ticket on the day of class. Please mark your certificate expiry in your calendar and register before your date of expiration, students who register after their certificate expiration will be required to retake the full program.
